Drambuie Pursuit

Mar 3, 2008, 12:00 am

Team Justin has been chosen to participate in the 2008 Drambuie Pursuit, an eight stage adventure race across northern Scotland this April. Many thanks to Reagan Evans for entering us into the competition. Three TJ members will be competing on April 26th, following a send-off party in NYC on Thursday the 24th and some historic tours of the battlegrounds in Scotland on Friday the 25th. .

The Pursuit’s a 100-mile race through the Scottish Highlands, retracing the steps of Bonnie Prince Charlie — the rebel monarch who carried the secret ingredients for Drambuie liqueur close to his breast as he fled the bloodthirsty Duke of Cumberland, described by his enemies as “so not bonnie”. Compete in this race and you’ll face a staggering array of challenges, including: mountain-biking, archery, powerboat racing, rockclimbing & rappeling, white-water rafting, off-road racing, and canoeing the river Ness — where the real monster will be your hideously chafed underarms. Afterwards, contestants get a blowout gala in the legendary burgh Inverness, home of Macbethian madness.

TeamJustin was selected based upon a 50-word essay contest through the National Geographic Adventure magazine. Interesting Links below:

Walk to D’Feet ALS

Oct 15, 2006, 12:00 am

Despite the rain, Team Justin friends and family rallied to support Justin in the walk the D’Feet ALS on Sunday. Together Team Justin raised over $6156!! The South Texas Walk total is over $ 286,134! We had a great time. Special thanks to Lupe Soto made the trek all the way from Dallas to join us for the walk.

The money we raised all went to the ALS Association which offers a lot of wonderful services. The staff steps in to help families struggle with ALS. They offer many crucial programs to people in our area who are currently struggling with ALS. In particular, the chapter’s loan closet includes medical and speech equipment that would otherwise cost a family thousands of dollars. All of those services are offered free of charge and are funded through donations, grants or events such as the Walk to D’Feet ALS®.

With our involvement, we made a difference in the lives of all ALS patients and their families. Proceeds of the walk will help the ALS association reach out to more people in our area living with ALS, as well as fund promising research into the cause, treatment and management of ALS.

Justin’s Surprise Birthday Party!

Jul 22, 2006, 12:00 am

Justin turned 32 on July 19th and on July 22nd we threw him a surprise b-day party/bbq! Fun was had by all as some of the pictures will attest. Ingrid and Simone set up an elaborate story that we were all going to the movies and despite the awkward 5 minute delay in folks walking in, Justin was very surprised! Family and friends came by from 3pm till almost 2:30am the next morning. Cruz (Justin’s new Chihuahua and brother to Harley) got all the attention and cool presents. Special thanks to all that made this a fun day.
